Using SIP, shippers will be able to enter shipment information, securely access shipment, grading, weight and payment information over the Internet as desired.
SDI will also deploy SAI's Buy Plan Management system that was designed exclusively for the steel industry. This system helps the mill buyer plan monthly requirements factoring in current inventory levels, materials under contract, in transit material, shipper performance history and material pricing levels. The buyer can create and analyze what if scenarios by changing variables as new market, production and shipment information becomes available This system includes automated e-mail communication to suppliers informing them of order status, changes and cancellations. Buy Plan Management is completely interfaced with SAI's core systems thus eliminating double entry and inherent errors.

SAI INTRODUCES A NEW TOUCH SCREEN SOLUTION FOR NONFERROUS PLATFORM SCALE INTEGRATION
Sept 9, 2004 - MAUMEE, OH Systems Alternatives International, LLC (SAI), recently introduced its' new Touch Screen Platform Scale System. The system is designed to reduce the transaction time processing peddler traffic through a non ferrous facility by combining several commercially proven technologies.
The key component of this product is a touch screen user interface that allows the weigh master to rapidly make selections from a touch screen menu and accumulate totals for settlement of multiple weights and commodities. Further speeding the processing time is the use of magnetic key fobs that contain pertinent supplier information. Upon entering the scale area the peddler's key fob is read by a built in optical scanner to begin the transaction with accurate vendor information. A magnetic card reader is also available to read driver's licenses with magnetic strips and JPEG'R technology can capture individual peddler photographs or driver's license information. Once the transaction is complete the peddler receives a bar coded receipt to be taken to the cashier for payment. The system is interfaced with the cashier to provide added opportunities for control. Alternatively, a magnetically encoded ATM card may be used for payment with an on site ATM machine away from the busy unloading and weighing area.
The first unit was installed in June at a Trademark Metals Recycling (TMR) facility in Florida. TMR is a processing company operated by The David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ). The reduction in transaction time, increased speed and accuracy along with the higher level of internal control over nonferrous scale operations was cited as the primary reasons for their decision to implement the new nonferrous scale systems across their business units.

SAI Announces new analytical tool
November 6, 2003 - Maumee, Ohio, Systems Alternatives International, LLC (SAI) announced the delivery of the latest X-sight Business Analysis tool, Settlement Analysis. This application was originally designed for non-ferrous or recovery based transactions, however it works well with both ferrous and paper transactions also.
Determining the profitability of a just one multi-material non-ferrous transaction can be difficult. This is due to the complexity of applying settlement grading, weight differences and at times the need to pro-rate the freight liability over several materials by weight. This scenario causes some companies not to track this type of detail at all. Given the value of non-ferrous materials, not understanding the profitability or lack of these transactions can be very costly.
For this reason SAI created out our new Multi-Materials Sales module to address and simplify the data entry and settlement process for these highly valuable transactions. To complement this module we are now introducing the newest application in our X-Sight business analysis suite, Settlement Analysis.
This application provides a powerful analytical tool that allows the user to review these transactions to determine where money is being made and lost. This is accomplished at multiple levels, by consumer, supplier, grade and trader in summary reporting. The ability to set min/max tolerances by dollars and or weight differences allows the user to pin point both high profit and problem areas with-in their business.
Contact SAI sales for further information or a demonstration of these products.
